"You Are NOT Alone!"

Cocky Dems Tout HC Bill to "lower the deficits"..here's what YOU REALLY NEED TO KNOW

The biggest single thing to understand about Obamacare “lowering the deficit

Every liberal you know is going to parrot this claim: “the Health Care bill lowers the deficit.” The most important thing to remember is that “lowering the deficit” and “won’t cost us anything” are two completely different things.

Take this example. Congress passes the “Give Alec Baldwin $100 Million for No Reason Act of 2010.” Then democrats get on TV and say—“look—this is good for American jobs. This money will be used to hire people to build his new house, clean his pool, and women to feed him thousands of bite sized Charleston Chews. And the best part? It will LOWER the deficit!”

Then this conversation happens at workplaces across America:

Liberal: “Fiscally irresponsible? Come on! It will lower the deficit!”

Conservative: “How does spending $100 million to buy Alec Baldwin Charleston Chews lower the deficit?”

Well, in theory, the liberal in this situation could be right.

How do you lower the deficit by spending $100 million? You raise taxes by $200 million. You can “lower the deficit” with any bill. Even a bill that just burned cash on the back porch of the White House could theoretically lower the deficit. Anything that raises taxes enough to cover more than what you light on fire is a “deficit- cutting measure” to these idiots.

With this health care bill, the preliminary scoring says the bill will cost around $940 billion (most in about 6 years), but it will supposedly bring in more than that—half from new taxes, half from “savings” in Medicare. Yay! Deficit cut!

Of course, the Medicare savings aren’t real and will never materialize*, and the new taxes will hurt the economy. And we know that government estimates are always wrong anyway, so all of this is invalid. But it doesn’t become invalid until after the plan has been in effect for years and years and is impossible to remove, so we have to fight this nonsense now.

When someone says “lowering the deficit” automatically means fiscal responsibility, don’t let them get away with it. (I now want a Charleston Chew.)

*Get all the nuts and bolts of what’s in this monstrosity here, but I leave you with this note on the supposed “savings”.

The bill “Spends money on doctors in 2013 and 2014, but leaves out the permanent fix, as expected. This means there’s another $300-ish B of Medicare spending that is not counted in this bill. So much for true deficit neutrality.”
