Specter to switch parties to Democrat

Specter to switch parties to Democrat

I am 100% serious here. I voted for A REPUBLICAN, not for Specter as an individual or as a Democrat. If Specter switches parties, I demand that there be a lawsuit filed and argued all the way to the SCOTUS if necessary, to have Specter's status as an active member of the Senate removed.

There is no way it can be legal/Constitutional to (and I HATE this word, but..) Disenfranchise the votes of straight party ticket voters that voted Republican.

I fully expect and demand the support of the PA, and National GOP in fighting this all the way.

I agree that Specter betrayed all PA voters. I certainly did not want him, but he was the Republican candidate, so I voted for him. I would support having him removed, unless it would let Rendell appoint another Democratic to replace him. In that case, the efforts of the party might be better spent on the election next year than bothering with running Specter out of town.

I already checked on the possibility of a recall vote. Unfortunately, it doesn't exist in Pennsylvania. As you said, if we were able to recall him, Rendell would just appoint another Democrat, anyway!

In his press oconference yesterday, Specter stated, "I am not prepared to have my 29 year career in the US Senate decided by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate." To which I respond: "Why NOT?" Clearly he has forgotten who he works for and who has elected him for the last 29 years. I mean, have you ever heard anything so arrogant and condescending?

When your boss decideds you need to go, you need to go! And when you cease to serve your constituents you need to go. Period. He is not a Duke or a King. As Peggy Noonan has noted, this ruling class has lost all sense of grace and decency. Enough of these arrogant SOBs.

This is ridiculous. And the worst part of it all is that none of them, not Specter, not Pelossi or Reid, not any of them can see that it is ridiculous - because it is NOT ABOUT THEM! It is about US!. More reason why this was not supposed to be a career - just a term of service. A reasonable, limited term of service. WE MUST HOLD THEM ACCOUNTABLE.

Well stated, Robert.
