"You Are NOT Alone!"

Corks Concealed Carry Corner...and other links documenting how legal gun owners have (could have) saved lives - LEGALLY !! ...Vol...XI

This is a thread post and reply on PAFOA relating to when/where to carry your firearm (I will attach the link at the bottom if you are interested in the whole thread). It began as a question if folks carried while doing yard work. It has slowly morphed into the question "when do you carry". The poster named Slingslot made the following observation about his/her cell phone:

I may have to rethink my carry times. You guys (and Gals) got me thinking about carrying around the house doing different things. Right now to be honest it is my phone that never leaves my side.

Below is the reply:

Slingslot, It is all just a mindset. Your quote says it all !!

How many of us would never leave our homes w/o our cell phones? The main reason we probably all used to rationalize this initial purchase when they came out was for our safety. "Granted, the odds that I will break down are slim BUT if that happens I can call for help instead of relying on some Good Samaritan to stop and help me." "If I am ever in trouble and need the Police, I can just grab my cell phone and call 911 I know they will not be there when I have car trouble but they can/will arrive soon." Call it an insurance policy.

Now let's replace cell phone w/ gun.

How many of us would never leave our homes w/o our guns? The main reason we probably all used to rationalize this initial purchase was for our safety. "Granted, the odds that I will ever need my gun are slim BUT if that happens I can protect myself instead of relying on some Good Samaritan to stop and help me."

"If I am ever in trouble and need the Police, I can just grab my cell phone and call 911 I know they will not be there when my life and the life of a loved one is in peril but they can/will arrive soon." Call it an insurance policy.
(Oppps, guess I forgot to replace the phone with the gun)

How many of us carry a pocket knife or a Leatherman? "Well, I carry mine because I may need it sometime to open a letter or cut an apple or ..."
I always have it on me "just in case."

What about an umbrella, household fire extinguisher, flashlight, spare house or car key, that emergency $10 bill folded in your wallet, digital camera?

Just think about all the things we would never be without or would never leave the house without having in our pockets, cars, purses, briefcases. Is the safety of you and your loved ones not the most important thing in life?

And what a cool excuse to need to buy another gun or two. "I really need something smaller to be able to comfortably carry and/or conceal while wearing this outfit" !!

For your safety and the safety of those you love, let's all make our firearms the #1 item we first put on, put in, equip. The phones, keys, knives, hairbrushes, combs, chapstick, sunscreen, perfume, umbrella, gum, breath mints, spare change, MP3 players, pens, pocket protectors, laptops, hairspray, flashlights, lighters, cigarettes, aspirin........ should be relegated to numbers 2 through 21.
