I guess it seems like a wash to have Oblome get to nominate someone to replace Souter. Without much research (Heller, and a couple other SCOTUS cases I really care about) into Souter's voting record, it looks like he was a lost cause anyway.
Does anyone know of any decisions where Souter voted in anything other than lockstep Liberal ideological fashion? Any reason we should think this replacement will have any bearing whatsoever on the ideological balance of the Court?
