TO Everyone Attending this event:

I think it would be good if we start planning on how we are going to handle this event, earlier than at our Aug 11 General Meeting. The Cowardly Congresspeople are making more of an effort to control these events, including:

1) Screening people as they come in, and not allowing people in to the event who may disagree.
2) Demainding that attendees submit their questions ahead of time, and only allowing those questions that are approved.
3) Telling people who show up that if they "disrupt" the meeting, they will be thrown out.
4) ACORN has plans to swamp the meetings with people friendly to the cause of National Healthcare, and thus keep out those who might object.

We also should discuss:

1) What message to give to the press.
2) If we are going to have any protestors with signs, what should the signs say?
3) If we actually get an opportunity to ask questions, what questions should we ask?

I don't have time to arrange this, but would someone please step forward and set up a strategy meeting?

Thanks!

I think it is great that people are getting angry. But we must remember not to become so unruly that the left has a legitimate complaint about us. They are our elected officials and should be shown respect even though we get little from them. All it takes is one crazy person to give everyone the label Loonie. Be forceful, be strong, but keep emotions under control. Wish I oculd be there.

Peggy,

I agree. I don't want to be unruly, or disrespectful. I don't want to yell and shout to prevent the Senator from speaking. But I also don't want to let him get away with evasive non-answers, as he tried to do in Philadelphia.

A Town Hall Meeting implies a two-way conversation. The Senator should hear from us, and should listen to our opinions of this Healthcare plan. This should not just be a Q&A where we just get to submit a question, and then listen to a BS answer, with no chance to follow-up!

Check out this clip from Her Highness, Sen. Boxer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZV84OBtGpSQ

So if you show up dressed nicely, it's a sure sign that you're being paid off by the GOP machine. Everyone make sure to show up in cut-offs and wife beaters, so Arlen knows we're "real people."

If Sen. Spector really, truly believes in this health care bill and votes for it, AND agrees to use the same plan he's voting for for his own health care, then I'll support him because he's standing for his principles.

If not, as I'm assuming is likely the case, then I'm changing my voter registration to Democrat so I can vote against him in the primary.

Wish I could be there on Wed to tell him this in person. But unfortunately I have to be in Pittsburgh for work, so I can pay my taxes to provide Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, unemployment, s-chip, education funding, public works funding, federal, state and local infrastructure funding, funding for heat and electricity subsidies, subsidies for farmers, artists and recovering addicts, jails, interest on the federal debt, cash for clunkers, investment in "green energy", the NEA, PBS and IRS, Nancy Pelosi's new G550 jet etc. etc. etc. oh, and those 2 things actually listed in the Constitution- defense and the judicial system.

John,

Warning! You are falling for a trap! This plan is more of a bloated, evil health insurance plan than anything else. Senator Specter could agree to be covered by it, but with the other benefits paid him, he can still afford to get private care, outside the insurance system, which the rest of us could not afford.

This is part of the problem - even if our representatives do agree to be covered by the same "programs" they inflict upon the rest of us, their benefits package serves to immunize them against the worst effects of those programs.

I judge this plan on its own merits, not on whether or not Senator Specter agrees to be covered by it! If Senator Specter agreed to be covered by this plan, my respect for him might increase by some imperceptible amount, but it won't change the fact that this plan will harm the rest of us, but have little impact on him!

What: Townhall Meeting

When: August 12, 2009 8:30 AM

Where:
The Penn Stater, President's Hall 4

State College, PA 16803

I urge anyone who can attend to attend this townhall meeting with Arlen Specter. Let him know that the healthcare reform he and the Administration want to implement is not for you. Point out the increase in taxes that this will bring. The reductuon in availability of healthcare this will cause. If you want to look at some points of the healthcare bill (HR 1200) i suggest you checkout www.lc.org and look at there findings as well as reading the 1000 plus bill it self.

With regard to assuring entrance to this event, if you are afraid you'll be excluded if you look like a dissenter, enter as a supporter. Carry a "Health Reform Now" sign and then express your opinion when you've gained entry.

HA! I'm already sending my feelings to talk show hosts and letters to the editor. I'll be at the protest and have some questions to ask - quietly and politely - that should get Benedict Arlen sputtering. I will not be carrying a sign so perhaps I can infiltrate the elite who get to answer questions. I do have some great sign slogans for others who may want them - including
Abort Late-term Seniors.
Support ObamaCare.
