Event Description

4th FEST PARADE OF HEROES SPECIFICS

WHERE AND WHEN TO MEET:
At 1 P. M. 9-12ers are requested to congregate at Staging Area III, which is located by the Central Parklet and Memorial Field on the south side of the Post Office.  Our on-site contact person is Lisa Madeira, phone 814- 574-5432.  Our 9-12 contact is Bette Jackson, 814-769-1928.  The parade will start from the State College Borough Building at 2 P. M. and last approximately 90 minutes.  Our unit will be 33rd of 62.

WHAT TO WEAR:
If your wardrobe allows, wear any combination of red, white, and blue, unless you prefer military attire.  We will have special patriotic headpieces that are adjustable.

WHERE TO PARK:
Parking is FREE for EVERYONE all over State College on the 4th.   This includes parking lots, parking garages, and street meters.  The Post Office also has a small adjacent area that will be available since it will be closed for the holiday.  There are several parking lots close by our Staging Area, in addition to a parking garage that is directly across from the Post Office on S. Fraser Street.  Park as close as you can.

HOW TO GET BACK TO YOUR CAR:
The parade will end at the PSU Law School Building, formally called the Lewis Katz Building.  A shuttle service will be provided by Fullington Bus to take parade participants back to where their cars are parked.  This will run continuously.

THE PARADE ROUTE:
The parade route is from the Borough Building on Allen Street, straight down to College Avenue, Right on College, straight down to Shortlidge Road; Left on Shortlidge until it intersects with Pollock; Right onto Pollock, then Left when it intersects Bigler Road.  Turn Left onto Bigler and proceed to the Law School.

EMERGENCY AND REST ROOM SERVICES:
EMT’s will be stationed at the Borough Building and will roam along the parade route.  Call 911 in case of emergency.  Rest rooms will be available in the Borough Building.  Others that are commercially available may also be used.

AFTER THE PARADE:
Should you care to continue with 4th Fest activities that are free and scheduled the entire day, drive over to the parking areas around Beaver Stadium and Medlar Field.  Various events, music, and free hot dogs and birthday cake await.  Then as evening descends, you may enjoy one of the very best fireworks displays in the nation that is put to music and lasts about 45 minutes.  A street dance follows.

YOUR ROLE:
Have fun!  Stand with us for America’s Founding Fathers and Freedom.  Help distribute pocket-sized copies of The Constitution and Declaration of Independence.

Can't attend. I'll be in the Mountain Time Zone, playing with cars.
