"You Are NOT Alone!"

I watched the speech last night given last night by the President of the United States and it seems he has not gotten the message that Americans are feed up with an ever expanding government which works outside the scope of the Constitution.   From what I saw was that President Obama is going to keep on the same track of spending beyond our limits and ignore the public outcry to shrink government and cut all programs down.  Look at the paragraph below and you can see his disillusion about the November elections.

“I believe we can. I believe we must. That’s what the people who sent us here expect of us. With their votes, they’ve determined that governing will now be a shared responsibility between parties. New laws will only pass with support from Democrats and Republicans. We will move forward together, or not at all – for the challenges we face are bigger than party, and bigger than politics”

Where in the hell has the President been the past year?   He actually expects us to believe that the
November elections where about bipartisanship.  I guess he missed out on citizen’s outrage over the way he and the Democrats pushed through more and more government controls.  He along with Congress pushed through the Health Care Act which Nancy Pelosi so famously stated “we have to pass to bill so you can see what’s in it”.  Also let’s not forget the campaign promise to get us out of Iraq by 2009 by then candidate Obama.

“We need to get behind this innovation. And to help pay for it, I’m asking Congress to eliminate the billions in taxpayer dollars we currently give to oil companies. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but they’re doing just fine on their own. So instead of subsidizing yesterday’s energy, let’s invest in tomorrow.

Now, clean energy breakthroughs will only translate into clean energy jobs if businesses know there will be a market for what they’re selling. So tonight, I challenge you to join me in setting a new goal: by 2035, 80% of America’s electricity will come from clean energy sources. Some folks want wind and solar. Others want nuclear, clean coal, and natural gas. To meet this goal, we will need them all – and I urge Democrats and Republicans to work together to make it happen.”

Listening to the President last night when he talked about the above passage concerning his solutions to energy I instantly thought of the song played on Disney commercials

When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who  you are

Anything your heart desires will come to you

If your heart is in your dreams, no request is too extreme

When you wish upon a star as dreamers do

(Fate is kind, she brings to those who love

The sweet fulfillment of their secret longing)

Like a bolt out of the blue, fate steps in and sees you thru

When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true

As you can see by the numbers from the Department of Energy listed above we at best have just under 4% of our total energy is created by “renewable green energy”.    To get to 80% in 25 years is a pipe dream at best and a complete lie at worst to push for more subsidies.

Obama also goes on to state that jobs have gone overseas cause of increased competition and that there are less jobs in manufacturing cause productivity increased.  Well he is correct that production increased but he is wrong about why these jobs are almost gone in our country.  The combination of unions driving up wages, the minimum wage forcing manufactures’ to take their businesses overseas to stay competitive,  the signing of NAFTA and CAFTA making it easier to ship our jobs overseas in a convoluted effort to make a more completive work place.  All these actions put the US at a sever disadvantage not to mention the ever increasing regulations that constrain entrepreneurship that this country was built upon.

Also his talk of investing in the future is idiotic. The government has no resources to invest but what they steal through the inflation tax that is printing money and taxes.  The only investing that ever makes sense is that which is done by private enterprises.  Basically this speech was nothing more than an hour long love fest for big government and a way for President Obama to be the self-promoting egomaniac that we all have become to know.
